Virginia Energy Report
The Virginia Energy Report: Policy Roadmap for the Commonwealth is intended to provide practical recommendations for rapidly deploying new, cleaner energy projects, increasing demand-side management programs, and enhancing energy education throughout Virginia. The report seeks coalition-building between top-down leadership and bottom-up grassroots efforts. It strives to provide objective analysis that adheres to current state law and sensible projections for Virginia’s energy leaders and decision-makers. Ultimately, the collective goal is to improve the lives of all Virginians through its energy systems.
George Mason University Completes Energy Action Plans for Three Virginia Municipalities
Arlington, VA — George Mason University’s Local Climate Action Planning Initiative (LCAPI) announces the completion of Energy Action Plans for Henry County, City of Danville, and City of Martinsville. The Energy Action Plans can be found on the LCAPI website.
The LCAPI works with Virginia municipalities to conserve energy, reduce costs, and ensure more resilient communities. The LCAPI consists of faculty and students who work closely with local governments and communities in three phases.

Premise: The physical and digital flows on which the global economy depends—energy, trade, and data—are concentrated in and routed through maritime chokepoints that are now demonstrably vulnerable to weaponization, while the U.S. capacity to guarantee their security is increasingly being questioned. If existing infrastructure—including seabed cables, the Strait of Hormuz, and the terrestrial grid—is vulnerable and constrained, space-based economic, energy, and data solutions offer a strategic hedge. Alongside the future of nuclear and geothermal power, space represents the next frontier of national security, energy resilience, and economic statecraft.
