Communication Messaging

The objective is to develop an effective communication and outreach strategy for different Virginia counties, cities, and jurisdictions (communities). This project seeks to address two components: (1) process and (2) message.

Message. Identify the most appropriate messaging to engage local Virginia communities in the CESP’s local climate and sustainability planning initiative. This task requires determining the most effective and appropriate words and terminology to use when speaking to or communicating with certain Virginia communities. In essence, identify the substance of messaging that most attracts local Virginia leaders to want to work with us (in local government, business community, and common lay people).

Research Assistant: Ian Waite

Research Question:

1. What climate priorities already exist in rural communities in the Commonwealth of Virginia?

2. What community values should CESP be mindful of when introducing new climate action programs to rural localities in the Commonwealth of Virginia?
